Linus Torvalds Got His Nexus 7

After all Linus Torvalds got his Nexus 7. Although he has absolutely nothing to report. He updated his phone immediately upon getting it.

Linus spent all initial time just updating the one-time passwords he has for all his toys and browser sync etc. However he is sure that there is some smart way to sync two different phones with google authenticator. It’s somewhere in the settings, He bets but hasn’t got yet. So the “obvious” way to update 2-step verification was to disable and re-enable it, which seems to invalidate all old authentication tokens.

He kept his experience open to world since he ordered it. That is a very good thing about him and may be to nexus 7 also. Wait for more of Linus Experiences about Nexus 7.

Bypassing Social Reader Apps In Facebook

Many Facebook stories that appear on your newsfeed require Social Reader App to open access so you can read them. The main problem with the Social Reader App is that it broadcasts your profile activity to newsfeed of other sites hence each of your friend know what you are reading on Internet. If you don’t want your friends to know what you are reading then you should bypass the Social Reader App:

  • In most cases Facebook offers cancel button whenever you click any link that require Social Reader App. Clicking cancel button redirects you to the article without publishing it on other networks.
  • Some Social Reader Apps like Yahoo when posts links on newsfeed doesn’t give cancel button and immediately posts the link on your Timeline. In such condition move to: Privacy Settings >> Ads, Apps and Websites >> Edit >> Apps you use >> Edit Settings >> Select your App >> Click Edit And Now select “Only Mean” on Posts on your behalf . This manages who can see posts this app makes for you on your Facebook Timeline.
  • Now the easiest way to read any article that requires Social Reader without letting anybody know is to copy the heading of that article and paste it on Google search and read it. Actually all those articles that require Social Reader on Facebook are open on the web so you can read them from somewhere else.
  • If you need to block Social Reader App permanently then open App Menu present on your Facebook’s Homepage, look for Social Reader and click [x]  to remove it.

The H’s associates at heise Security demonstrate a proof-of-concept exploit for the Kindle Touch which causes the kindle to reboot. There is a security flaw in web browser built into Amazon’s Kindle Touch eBook reader. Whenever any user navigates any specially crafted webpage the kindle executes arbitary shell commands as root that allows attackers to access the eBook reader’s underlying Linux system and potentially steal the access credentials for the Amazon account linked to the Kindle, or purchase books with account of Kindle’s user. Cloud Based Scripting Language For Light-weight Application Development In Google Apps Platform

Google Apps Script is cloud based scripting language for light-weight application development in Google Apps platform. It is based on JavaScript, gets executed in the Google Cloud and provides easy ways to automate tasks across Google products including third party services.
Google App Script is based on JavaScript like syntax. It uses Google Web Toolkit (GWT) for creating and displaying elements of user interface. GWT is easy to learn, and completely abstracts the complexity of AJAX/HTML from the developer. It is a Cloud based debugger for debugging App Scripts in the browser. It can be used for creating tools to perform simple system administration tasks etc.

Limitations: Currently it doesn’t allow connection to internal (behind-the-firewall) corporate databases, which is key to building business apps. Lacks other connectivity like LDAP connectivity and limits the level to which GAS can be used in the enterprise.

Linus Torvalds Bought Nexus 7 So Why Not You ?

If you are confused between Nexus 7 & New Samsung Galaxy Note Sporting 5.5 Inch Screen or any other smartphone and unable to take decision then you must know:

  • Linus Torvalds pre-ordered Nexus 7.
  • Linus Torvalds is checking delivery date of Nexus 7 again and again.

Now you would be saying that you don’t take your decisions by watching what others are doing. What do you think? You are wiser than Linus Torvalds? You think Linus Torvalds comes in ‘others’ category.

It is good if you don’t watch others and make your decisions but truly this is what you really do but you don’t know. You see adds, you watch movies and you buy stuff.

Many of you purchased Sony Xperia after watching Spiderman but are you really satisfied with Sony Xperia? If you say yes then you are very lucky because others who purchased it realized that the most important feature (seeing what they purchased Sony Xperia) actually don’t works. Hence it is much-much better to watch Linus Torvalds and buy Nexus 7 instead of watching Spiderman and buying Sony Xperia.

Everybody experiences some hardware-software conflict in such smartphones because developers are different. If you are willing to experience this conflict everyday then don’t buy Nexus 7.

Facebook Announced SPDY Support

Facebook has announced SPDY support. Here is Facebook’s response to the call for expressions of interest in HTTP/2.0. Providing faster and more secure online services to users, the features in need for HTTP/2.0 are:

  •  Multiplexing
  •  Transport layer encryption
  •  Zero-latency upgrade
  •  Per-request flow control
  •  Server push

Check Details Here.

What is SPDY ?

SPDY means speedy. It is an experimental networking protocol developed primarily at Google for transporting web content. Its main objective is to reduce loading time of any web page. It modifies the way HTTP requests and responses are sent over the wire.

SPDY transports the web content using fewer TCP connections by multiplexing large numbers of transactions to one TLS connection. Read Mozilla Hacks: SPDY Brings Responsive and Scalable Transport to Firefox 11

Firefox 16 Now Supports HTML5 getUserMedia

Firefox 16 now supports HTML5 getUserMedia. It enables access to webcam without any plugins.

There is an entry in about:config, set that to true. In case you need to add a new entry then:

  • open about:config
  • Right click any entry.
  • Select ‘New‘ >> ‘Boolean

Add the following entry and set it true:

media.navigator.enabled

Remember to define callback methods right within the getUserMedia() method as shown below:

navigator.getUserMedia(gumOptions,
function successCallback(stream) {
// Replace source of video element with stream from camera
if(navigator.getUserMedia==navigator.mozGetUserMedia) {
video.src = stream;
} else {
video.src = window.URL.createObjectURL(stream) || stream;
}

video.play();
},
function errorCallback(error) {
console.error(‘An error occurred: [CODE ‘ + error.code + ‘]’);
video.play();
});

It won’t works in-case you defined it elsewhere. No need to use CreateObjectURL to pass the stream the video element. Pass the stream directly. video.src=stream

Paul Rouget of Mozilla, created a video tutorial demonstrating HTML5 getUserMedia:
