Don’t you think by adding a notification telling your visitors, the age of article would be a good idea. This way, your visitor will know when a post is a little bit old and will read your content keeping its age in mind.
Geoffrey has given us many good plugin and now by using his new plugin called Juiz Outdated Post Message you will be able to show post age (with lots of controls) very easily in WordPress.
You can add a message before or after your blog post content informing your visitors about the age of your article. Great feature for technology weblogs because new features come in more frequently which makes ‘how to’ guides outdated.
Start by installing and activating Juiz Outdated Post Message
Upon activation visit your admin area dashboard Settings -> Outdated Post Message and set the delay days before to make any post out dated.
- Choose the place where the message is displayed (before or after the content, or both)
- Choose what type of posts that are concerned like posts, pages, media and other custom post types
- Set custom delay for each post
- Hide the message for a specific post
- Lots of hooks for developers
You can use [outdated]
shortcode to manually display the outdated post message. But be careful, the shortcode use the global settings from its admin page.
For hiding the message for any specific post, simply visit that post’s edition page and use outdated message options metabox. If you don’t want to provide this functionality to the users on your WordPress site then you can hide metabox added by this plugin from the plugin’s admin page (Settings -> Outdated Post Message).
