Since 4.2 update, WordPress has introduced compatibility and support for emojis, the ideograms and smileys. Emojis are the ideograms or smileys used in electronic messages and Web pages. Originating in Japan on mobile devices, they are now commonly available on devices worldwide, ranging from mobile to desktop computers.
But there are many bloggers who don’t want this functionality on their WordPress sites, a few days back a SANGKRIT.net hosting user also asked us to post lesson on reverting back to classic WordPress smilies.
So in this lesson you will learn about disabling emojis and reverting back to classic smilies in WordPress.
There are two good plugin you can use in your WordPress site. First plugin is Disable Emojis, the plugin simply disables the new emoji functionality in WordPress 4.2+ versions. All you got to do is install and activate it, that’s it.
Another plugin called Classic Smilies, replaces the smilies with original versions from previous updates of WordPress. This plugin also disables all “emoji” functionality on WordPress 4.2 and above versions.
Hence, there is no need of using both plugins together on your WordPress installation. If you just want to disable emojis then use first plugin i.e. Disable Emojis and if you want to revert back to old days WordPress smilies disabling emojis at the same time then use second plugin, Classic Smilies.
If you want us to set up thing plugin on your WordPress site or know about any similar plugin the feel free to mention it via following comment form.
