JetPack doesn’t provide follow button on self hosted WordPress.Org blogs but you can still have it. Here we will be discussing about two WordPress plugins created by Aditya Jain. These plugin adds a Blog Follow button at the bottom of your site jut like WordPress.Com.
Both plugins does the same thing but first plugin is for the person who uses JetPack and the other plugin is who doesn’t uses JetPack by WordPress.com
So if you are already using the plugin JetPack by WordPress.com then install and activate Follow Button For JetPack and it automatically adds a floating follow button (as on WordPress.Com Blogs) to Jetpack Powered WordPress.Org sites.
And if your blog isn’t powered by Jetpack then install and activate Follow plugin. It does the same thing on the sites but here you need to do some configuration settings:
Create a WordPress Page Called Subscribe THE URL ADDRESS OF THE PAGE MUST BE – “/subscribe”
Open the subscribe page (Editor) Click the S2″ button on the QuickBar to automatically insert the Subscription Form. See the above screen shot.
Go to Follow Plugin Menu (Listed Below the Settings Menu of WordPress) and then go to Settings>>Appearance and follow as written red letters.
For hiding the Subscribe page go to WordPress DashBoard>>>>Pages>>>All Pages>>>Edit Subscribe Page>>>Uncheck the Show this page in navigation menu to hide the page Check the above screenshot.
Follow plugin provides an option for hiding subscription page from Navigation but if you like to learn about hiding other pages from Navigation menu then read this article – Hide Certain Pages From WordPress Header Navigation
