Earlier we have discussed about saving and previewing WordPress posts with CTRL + S. Now today in this lesson you will learn how you can save post draft, theme and plugin files with same keyboard hit.
First thing you should know that now WordPress allows you to save post drafts with CTRL + S without any page reload.
Extending this functionality to theme and plugin editor:
Start by installing and activating Save with keyboard. It allows you to save your posts, pages, theme and plugin files in the most natural way i.e. by pressing Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S on Mac).
If you just want to extend this functionality outside general post editor then use Keyboard Save plugin instead, it works for posts, pages and other custom post types.
The plugin also provides you option to select the keyboard trigger that performs this action. By default, it saves your draft but if you wish you can select the action you wish it to perform by visiting Settings > Writing screen.
