Threaded timeline for posts is a cool new feature you get by using the brand new WordPress plugin called Threads. Using this feature you can publish different versions or updates of any blog posts by assigning a new timeline to it. For example you have blogged on WordPress installation and then after a few months you write a new post on WordPress Plugin Installation; now what you can do is create a new thread and assign these two posts with in that so that your users can see a timeline of posts based on same topic.
How To Create Post Thread ?
Install and activate Threads plugin. After activation it adds a new metabox for Threads Taxonomy in your post’s add new and edit pages, you can easily use this in the way you create and assign categories. It adds following message under your threaded blog post:
This post is part of the thread: Your Thread Name & Link Comes Here – an ongoing story on this site. View the thread timeline for more context on this post.
Now your readers can view other threaded posts simply by clicking on thread name. You can manage all threads from Dashboard -> Posts -> Threads page.
Widget & Shortcode For Displaying Threads
The plugin provides you a widget for displaying recent threads on your sidebar. It also provides you a shortcode [thread term="thread-slug"]
for displaying thread timeline inside your blog posts and pages.
