Ubuntu 13.10 update adds a new keyboard indicator which is enabled by default but there are many users who don’t need this. The option simply allows you to switch between keyboard layouts of various languages, keyboard types. But the users who don’t swap between keyboard, don’t need it.
Here’s how you can easily remove the keyboard indicator from your Ubuntu top panel:
- From the top right settings menu visit System Settings
- Click on ‘Region and Language’ tile
- Untick the check box next to ‘Show Current Input Source in Menu Bar’
That’s all. This hides the switcher but you can re-enable it again by follow same given steps and ticking the box.
