Giving a title to your WordPress site defines your identity on the Internet and helps with search engine optimization. Here’s how to do it:
- Log into your WordPress admin area and navigate to the General -> Settings section.
- Enter a title in the “Site Title” field, simply type the name you want for your website. This will appear in the browser tab, search results, and often in the website’s header and footer depending on your theme.
- You may add a tagline in the tagline field present below the site title. The tagline is a brief description or slogan that tells visitors what your site is about.
- Once you’ve entered the title and tagline, click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.
Alternatively, same can also be done by navigating to Appearance -> Customize page using the ‘Site Identity’ section.
