There are tons of core widgets WordPress provides you and that sometime results a messy and slow widgets admin page. In this lesson we will show you how you can disable and hide core widgets from Appearance -> Widgets screen and theme customizer.
WP-CMS Widget Control is a WordPress plugin that allows you to manually disable and hide selective widgets from widgets admin screen. It simply provides you a checkbox list showing names of all core WordPress widgets.
Start by installing and activating WP-CMS Widget Control plugin in WordPress
Upon activation visit your admin area dashboard Settings -> Widget Control and tick the widgets you like to hide. Save the changes and that’s it.
The plugin works only for WordPress core widgets like:
- Pages widget
- Calendar widget
- Archives widget
- Meta widget
- Search widget
- Text widget
- Categories widget
- Recent Posts widget
- Recent Comments widget
- RSS Entries widget
- Tag Cloud widget
- Custom Menu widget
And it is good because other addon widgets can be disabled simply by deactivating the associated plugins.
