In the previous lesson you have learned about Google Freshness Algorithm that works on the theory that people like both relevant and recent content.
Google prefers new content over old, the date of every post is shown in Google’s search results page and it is more likely that people are going to click on the post that has been recently published.
In this lesson, you will learn about updating WordPress post dates in bulk. Although updating just date is not enough, your content must be updated too. But if you have a blog with evergreen content such as Fitness blog, Food & Recipes blog, Family & Relationship blog or any blog where the content doesn’t goes out of date then you may bulk update the post dates and for that there is a WordPress plugin.
How To Update Post Dates In Bulk?
Updating post dates in bulk is easy. Navigate to Plugins -> Add New page to search and install Bulk Post Update Date plugin. Upon activation the plugin will let you automatically update the time stamp of published date and modification date. By using this plugin you can:
- Update Posts Modified date in bulk
- Update Pages Modified date in bulk
- Update Any Custom Post Type dates in bulk
- Randomly distributes dates to look realistic to search engines
- Option to change Published Date or Modified Date
- Select Custom Interval or the Date Range
- Apply on posts from specific categories
- Apply on specific pages
These options can be managed from your admin area dashboard Settings -> Bulk Post Update Date page. From this page you simply need to select timestamp and post categories and then click the ‘Update Post Dates’ button. The plugin will take care of the rest. Again, remember that this is only for the blogs with evergreen content.
