FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is useful for backing up and updating your website. Using an FTP client you can quickly transfer files and directories between your local hard disk to your website directory. But before using an FTP program, you must set up your domain to accept file transfer protocol.
In this tutorial we will show you how to configure FTP accounts on your cPanel based hosting account.
Login to your website hosting and launch your cPanel.
From the ‘Files‘ section click on ‘FTP Accounts‘. If you don’t already have any FTP accounts set up, you will immediately get directed to setup screen.
Type in the information like FTP username and password etc (this will be needed for accessing your FTP account in future) then click ‘Click FTP Account’.
You will be directed to a screen showing your FTP account information.
The info is very important, it is used for setting up your FTP client so that you can transfer files between your local machine and your web server/hosting.
