Shardul Pandey: Hello Justin! I welcome you at SANGKRIT.net. Please tell our netizens about yourself ?
Justin Elswick: Hello Shardul! I think that people might be interested to know that I am not a trained musician. I am self-taught and learned to write music by listening to other artists and songwriters. Also, I am a full-time attorney and have been actively practicing with a law firm for years. Another interesting thing about me is that I lived in Ireland for a while and obtained a Masters degree in philosophy from the University of Dublin. Trinity College. My dissertation was on the subject of European witchcraft.
I was born in California and raised in the Los Angles area. I used to DJ when I was in school and loved discovering new music. After graduating from high school, I became a missionary for a few years in Texas. I then went to college and studied History at Brigham Young University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree. I’ve always been fascinated by myths, legends, folktales, history, philosophy, cinema and art. I often draw inspiration from books/literature and movies. I have always enjoyed learning and would probably be a perpetual student if such a life were possible.
Shardul Pandey: So how would you describe your music ? Tell us something about your upcoming album “MORTAL LONGING” ?
Justin Elswick: I would describe it as cinematic music with Celtic, World, Classical and Pop elements.
The new album “Mortal Longing” will be released in the Spring next year. It will feature 14 tracks and vocal contributions by Zoe Johnston, Phildel, Coury Palermo, Jody Quine, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Kristy Thirsk, Jill St. James, Marcella Detroit, Caroline Lavelle, Kyoko Baertsoen, and Sonja Drakulich.
