Sync & Access Your Passwords From Anywhere With Google Password Manager

All your passwords from Google Chrome and Android are saved with Google Smart Lock and can be easily accessed from across all your devices. Chrome has a built-in password manager that prompts you to save password whenever you login to any website.

Saved passwords are automatically synced to Google Password Manager and can be accessed anytime from any device via Google Account. Once passwords are synced they come automatically available after you login to Chrome from any device.

However, if you use some other browser such as Firefox or Safari etc then also you can get access to your passwords using passwords.google.com.

Simply login with your Google Account which you use on Chrome and you will be provided with a list of all your login credentials on different websites.

The list includes your passwords saved on Chrome and Google Smart Lock for Passwords on Android. By default the passwords are hidden but you can reveal them in text by clicking the eye icon.

Don’t want your passwords to be synced

If you don’t want Google Password Manager to store your passwords online then you may either avoid saving passwords on your Google Chrome browser or disable Chrome to sync your passwords online.

This can be done by visiting Google Chrome advanced settings page and clicking ‘Advanced sync settings..’ button. Or simply type chrome://settings/syncSetup in your Chrome browser to open ‘Advanced sync settings’ page. Select ‘Choose what to sync’ and uncheck ‘Passwords’.

OR under the encryption options, select “Encrypt all synced data with your own sync passphrase”, enter a passphrase and save your changes. Once you do this, your passwords will not be be available on Google Passwords Manager website.

It also provides you a Chrome addon or you may use the recommended download here, launch LastPass, and start saving passwords on cloud.

It not only allows you to store usernames and passwords but you would be able to:

  1. Attach documents, PDFs, images, audio, and more
  2. Checkout fast by adding credit cards & shopping profiles
  3. Save any piece of data you need to keep secure and accessible

  1. chrome://settings/syncSetup did not help I wanted Password manager to prompt me for a new Skype password and store it. Although I have the setting turned on to sync for all apps it seems to fail.
