Move Content & Code Between Two WordPress Websites

SitePush plugin can copy your website data & content and then transfer it to some other server for testing purposes. It can be used on hostings and servers running over Linux or Mac OS X. It also works for Windows-based servers but there are some features which will not work like backing up files etc.

The plugin is very useful but it needs some extra effort to completely set it up working. But once correctly configured, it will work same as advertised. All importing setup instructions are included here.

With this plugin you will be able to run multiple versions of your WordPress site. This way you can edit, develop, test anything without any risk to your main live website.

SitePush

A very good plugin for developers, website designers, webmasters and anyone who often test changes to a website before making them really visible on Internet.

For instance:-

  1. You can move content between sites. For example, make extensive edits on a private staging site, and then push changes all at once to your live site. Or, easily pull copy of your live database into your development site so you are developing against the latest content.
  2. You can freely test new themes and plugins, and only push them to your live site once they are configured and working as you want.
  3. You can upgrade/update WordPress, themes and plugins on a private site so you can test that nothing breaks before upgrading your live site. Sure you take backups before any upgrades (right?), but it’s a pain doing a full backup and an even bigger pain restoring from a backup.
  4. You can make small and big code hacks, changes on your development site, test and easily push new code to a live site. Great for dealing with clients who want “just one more thing”.
