How To Use Windows 8 Metro Design On Chromebook?

Metro design is a special user interface consists largely of a start screen made up of dynamic tiles showing links to applications, features and extensions. The design was specially made for touch phones, tablets and laptops but now many software programs use it for styling their UI. In this article we will show you how you can easily manipulate your Google Chromebook or traditional Google Chrome browser into Windows 8 style metro design.

Modern New Tab Page is a Chrome extension which simply replaces the Chrome’s new tab with a new beautiful and elegant metro design, made of customizable live tiles. The extension is highly customizable which means you can change the background image, opacity and color. You can also change the colors, size and icons of live tiles.

It provides you 26 different color schemes to select from or you can design your own theme. The extension also lets you to display latest news of your favorite websites via RSS feed.

To start using metro design, add Modern New Tab Page in your Chrome. After it gets downloaded, click the new tab and you will be seeing the new awesome metro design. Now that small wheel icon on the top left corner lets you customize the metro design like you can change its color, add a background image, customize title size, change the number of rows & columns to display, show/hide recently closed tab option, set footer position etc.

And the plus (+) icon on the top left corner lets you add bookmarks to your favourite sites as new dynamic metro tiles. Here also you can choose a custom tile color, size and image. On footer there are three metro buttons (Applications, Bookmarks & Recently Closed Tabs) which pops-up in Chrome’s desktop app launcher style and displays all installed applications, bookmarks and recently closed tabs in a box.
