Locate What And Where Shortcodes Are Being Used In WordPress

When moving away from a theme or plugin that utilizes a lot of shortcodes in your WordPress site leaves broken shortcodes inside your content.

So when deactivating a shortcode plugin or switching to a new WordPress theme requires you to make sure none of your posts, pages and other custom post types have no outdated shortcodes to break in process.

Earlier we have discussed about disabling shortcodes temporarily or permanently in your WordPress site. We have also discussed about preventing dead shortcodes from showing up in your website.

Shortcode Locator is the new WordPress plugin that allows you to view where shortcodes are used across your WordPress site and allows you to filter results by a specific shortcode or post type. It also allows you to view shortcodes while managing your blog posts.

Start by installing ‘Shortcode Locator’ plugin in WordPress

Shortcode Locator 1

Upon activation visit your admin area dashboard Settings -> Shortcode Locator page and select the post types where you like enabling the shortcode display columns.

This activates a new ‘Shortcodes’ column on Posts -> All Posts screens listing shortcodes used inside the post content.
