How To Create Pages In WordPress?

Now you know the difference between WordPress posts and pages. And we have already posted tutorial on writing your first blog post. Now let us create pages for showing up your timeless content. Just think what you want your visitors to know and access easily anywhere from your website, what static information you have. A page can be used for publishing your biography, your life story, about your website, information about the authors of your blogging site, contact information, résumé or CV, links to other websites you own etc.

A page can also be used for highlighting your favorite content. Writers can use a page to compile their publications in one place, photographers can use it for displaying their portfolios, celebrities may use it for showing their booking information, future events or any kind of static information.

[heading size=”17″]Step-1 Creating A New Page[/heading]

To create and publish a new page visit Dashboard -> Pages -> Add New, give your page a title and start writing content. With visual tab you can use the formatting buttons. Or you may switch to HTML tab and manually include HTML tags and formatting. Visual tab provides you basic formatting options like bold, italic, headings, hyperlinks, bullets & numbering etc.

[heading size=”17″]Step-2: Inserting Images Inside Your Page Content[/heading]

Add Media button allows you to insert image files inside your posts. For inserting any image from your computer:

  1. Click ‘Add Media‘ button.
  2. Click ‘Upload Files‘ tab, upload the image and click insert image.
  3. You can add a custom links to image, set its alignment and choose a custom size (last option in image size’s dropdown box).

The image is inserted on the location of your cursor.

On the right side you can set the featured page image, use ‘Page Attributes‘ metabox to nest sub-pages under a “parent” page. When you’re done with the content, click the ‘Publish‘ button.

After publishing a page or more you can add them to your website’s menu from Dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus page. In general, bloggers only create About & Contact pages and hence most WordPress themes automatically shows them on their menu location by default. WordPress also provides you a page widget which you can add to your sidebar from Appearance -> Widgets screen in your admin area.
