How To Categorize BuddyPress Groups By Assigning Tags To Them ?

Learn categorizing BuddyPress site groups by assigning tags to them. You can easily show a clickable tag cloud above the group listings or as a sidebar widget.

Using BuddyPress Group Tags you can assign tags to your BuddyPress site groups and this way you can categorize all the groups. Install and activate it, optionally you can can change settings from the Group Tags admin page.

A clickable tag cloud can be shown just above the group listings. For widget visit Dashboard -> Appearance -> Widgets and add its widget to your theme’s widget area.  Also you can display group activity stream based on the assigned tag.

For example, Suppose you have 5 groups with tag ‘Plugins’ then you can display a combined activity feed of only those 5 groups. It is powerful enough for larger sites having lots of conversations, using gtags_group_activity() function one can even find the activity of groups sharing two different tags, or you can display activity for two tags added together.
